   [2007 Leipzig] Session I Young Artists Performers

Ayano Shimada  PIANO(27, JAPAN)
Francaix, Debussy

Ayano Shimada began her musical studies at the age of 4. In 1977, she left Japan to study in Paris.
She won several important prizes at national and international competitions including “Jean Francaix”
in France, “Trani” in Italy, “Vienna da Motta” in Macao. She received the 4th prize and a special prize
at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2004, and it took her to the international concertist
career. She gives recitals in France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and Austria.
Her first CD "Debussy-Dutilleux-Ravel" had been released in April 2006.

Vitaly Pisarenko  PIANO(20, UKRAINE)
Tchaikovsky, Liszt

Vitaly Pisarenko began to appear on the stage at the age of six and first became the prizewinner at the
International Competition for young pianists at the age of nine.
Since 2003 Vitaly Pisarenko won the 1st Prizes at the International Piano Competition(Togliati, Russia)-2003 and at the Interfest - Bitola Piano Competition(Macedonia)-2005, and the 2nd Prize at Filippo Trevisan International Piano Competition for Piano Interpretation(Ravenna, Italy)-2006. He also won 1st Prize and Prize of the Jury of Critics at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Trani"(Italy), 2006.
At the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Weimar(Germany), 2006, he won the 3rd Prize and was awarded the Audience Prize and Special Prize of Fazil Say. In September 2006 he became a prizewinner of Summer Academy of the University Mozareum(Salzburg, Austira) and played at Grosser Hall
of Mozarteum in a Prizewinner's concert. Vitaly Pisarenko regularly participates at the International Festivals, including International Music Festivals in Khakov and Chernigov(Ukraine); "Sic Itur Ad Astra"(Rome, Italy); Euro Music Festival (Leipzig, Germany); "Interfest Bitola" (Macedonia); Liszt Festival in Weimar(Germany). He has given numerous recitals and performed as soloist with orchestras in Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Macedonia, Austria, Germany.

Francesco and Vincenzo De Stefano  PIANO(21, ITALY)
Mendelssohn, Liszt, Ravel

Are twin brothers born in Reggio Calabria in 1986. They won in numerous international competitions
and have held a lot of concerts for music associations and festivals. They have performed with the Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Accademia delle Muse, Hipponiana Chamber Orchestra, Orfeo Stillo Orchestra.
They are debuted at the Carnegie Hall of New York in April in 2007. They recorded for the “Fire Records” with music for two pianos and with the premiere world recording of the Liszt-Verdi Rigoletto and they are working for a production with Phoenix Classic. They are often reviewed from the musical review
"Suonare News" and from others important local and national newspapers.
Next engagements: in the Winter 2007 the tounéé in Corea del Sud, tornéé with orchestra at the Bahamas and debut at the Sala” G.Verdi” of Milan.

Manuel Araujo  PIANO(24, PORTUGAL)
Bach, Beethoven

Born in  V. N. de Gaia (Portugal) in 1983.
Began studying music, at the age of five. As a young pianist was awarded the first prize in several piano competitions in Portugal, Spain and Italy.In the season 2006/2007 performed in several of the most prestigious venues in The Netherlands, as the Stadsschouwburg of Amsterdam, the Lucent in The Hague, the Philips Hall in de Stadsschouwburg of Eindhoven, the Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht, the Theater De Vest in Alkmaar and the Schouwburgs of Rotterdam, Utrecht and Leiden, between others, interpreting 14 Preludes and Fugues of the Well Tempered Clavier in cooperation with the choreographer Ton Simons and the company Dance Works Rotterdam.
Performed all over Portugal, as well as in Macedonia (Bitola National Theatre), Trento (Sala della Filarmonica), Bergamo, Brescia, Brussels (Salle Gothique - Hôtel de Ville), Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. For 2007 has programmed performing in the Hermitage Imperial Theatre in S. Petersburg (2007).Took part in many Festivals, including the Alcobaça Music Festival, 4 Seasons of  Vidago and the Rotterdam Operadagen, performing Reminiscences de D. Juan in the Liszt Opera transcriptions marathon (Concertgebouw De Doelen). In 2002 and 2003 was invited to record live for RDP (Portuguese National Radio), in the commemoration of the centenary of the Portuguese composer Frederico de Freitas and in the 50 years of death of S. Prokofiev, performing three of his sonatas.  
As a soloist, performed with the Oporto National Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra do Norte  (Portugal) and with the Orquestra Filarmonica di Stato "P. Constantinescu" di Ploiesti (Romania), with the conductors Anton Nanut, José Ferreira Lobo, Marc Tardue, Ahmed El Saedi, Roberto Misto and Enrique Bátiz.

Fernando Altamura  PIANO(21, ITALY)

Fernando Altamura is a next generation pianist of Italy. His numerous prize winning careers include Mozarteum Summer Academy International Competition in Salzburg 2004, Johannes Brahms International competition in Italy 2005, Bitola Interfest International Piano Competition in Macedonia and others. He had recitals in several festivals such as Gargano Inernational Festival, Florence International Music Festival, International Piano Festivals like Tropea, Bruxellers and Spoleto and Euro Music Festival Leipzig. And he was also observed by perfofming with several orchastras Mozart "Rondo for Concert K.382", Ravel "Piano Concerto G Major", Bach "Conerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra C Major", Poulenc "Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra", John Adams "Gran Pianola Music".
Since 2003, he has been showing another different musical aspect of his own through various recording. He made a successful debut recital in Korea which was held at HoAm Art Hall on November 14, 2006. His first recital in Korea was presented by Euro Arts.

Joris van den Berg  CELLO(21, NETHERLANDS)

Joris van den Berg started playing the cello when he was 5 years old. His first teacher was Like Viersen. From 1998 until 2004 Joris studied with Yke Viersen, member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam. Since 2003 he studies with Quirine Viersen and Godfried Hoogeveen (principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He gained orchestral experience in the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Dutch Youth String Orchestra. Joris was first-pricewinner at National Comeptitions, among others the National Cellocompetition 2006 in Amsterdam, after which he made is debut in the Big Hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, with Amsterdam Sinfonietta with David Geringas.
Joris had masterclasses with among others Frans Helmerson, Janos Starker, Colin Carr, Walter Despalj, Steven Doane and chamber music with Silke Avenhaus, Nobuko Imai, Anatoly Resnikovsky and István Parkanyi. He participated in the International Holland Music Sessions and Bowdoin Internattional Music Festival in the United States. Joris performed solo-concertos with Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Camerata Amsterdam and the Orchestra of the Russian Defence Ministry. He perfored at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, New York, the Big Hall of the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory and the Gergiev Festival, Rotterdam. Joris plays on a cello, built by J.B. Guadagnini placed at his disposal by the Dutch National Musical Instrument Foundation.  


Shin Ito  PIANO(21, JAPAN)

Born in 1986 in Akita in Japan, Shin Ito began his musical studies at the age of five. He won several prizes at various competitions in Japan including the prize at the JPTA Piano Audition in Tokyo in 2002, the
first prize at the Chopin Music Students Competition in Sendai in 2002, the first prize at the North Japan Youth Music Competition in Sendai in 2003, and the fourth prize at the Music Competition of Japan in 2005. He was invited to play chamber music with the members of Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg in 2002 in Japan. While Shin Ito won such prizes, he was majoring in philosophy in high school aiming to be a philosopher. However, he changed his career plan into music;he entered the Toho University of Music in Japan. He is now studying with Prof. Mamiko Suda.
