Prior admission into the National Institute of the Arts, Teng captured First Prize at the 7th Concerto Competition in 1992, sponsored by the Taipei City Symphony. A performance of Concerto in g-minor by Bruch was given with the orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Taipei. In the following summer, he was invited to participate in the Pacific Music Festival, Sapporo, Japan.
From 1996 to 1998, Teng's highly acclaimed recitals were given nationwide with repertoire ranging from Baroque to 20th century music. He has distinguished himself as one of the best violinist in the generation to come.
His extensive concertmaster experiences includes concertmaster of Taipei Orchestra in 1996, Orchestra of the National Defense Ministry, 1998-2000. He was appointed as concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in 2002. His solo performance of Lalo's Symphony Espagnole with the ESO was a sold-out event with great reviews.
During the summers of 2005 and 2006, he was invited as violin faculty and performing artist in the Shuan-Yin International Music Festival, Taipei, Taiwan.
In addition to his performance career, Mr. Teng is also enjoying teaching a class of prize winning young talents in several high schools with Artistic Gifted Programs in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mr. Teng is currently Associate Concertmaster of National Symphony Orchestra and artist-in-residence of the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. |
