| Pianist Florence Millet,
a native of France, performs in Europe, Japan, and North and South
America. As prize winner in both the Boesendorfer and the William
Kapell International Competitions, the press hailed her as "a

| Millet's appearances with
orchestra include the Polish Chamber Orchestra under Charles Dutoit,
the Orchestre National d'Ile de France, the Philharmonic Orchestras
in Calgary(Canada), Montpellier(France), Caracas(Venezuela), St. Petersburg
(Russia) and the Romanian Radio-Symphony. A founding member of the Lions Gate Trio for more than 25 years, ensemble in Residenceat HARTT, University of Hartford in Connecticut, Yale and Tanglewood Festival, Ms. Millet has also performed with the Ensemble InterContemporain, collaborating with I.R.C.A.M. , Ensemble Modern and Bergische Ensemble fuer Neue Musik. Thus she worked closely with composers Luciano Berio, Tristan Murail, Elliott Carter, Hanz Werner Henze, George Crumb, Johannes Schollhorn, Steve Reich, Jorg Wiedmann and Leonard Bernstein, among others. Ms. Millet's solo recordings include CD's Liszt/Schumann/Schubert(Centaur records), Gerard Pesson's Piano Concerto (Accord ), the Gideon Klein Piano Sonata(Triton), solo piano music of Elliott Carter(Pianovox/Sony). The Lions Gate Trio also recorded Schumann(Centaur) and Bacri(Triton) chamber works on double discs. Ms. Millet graduated with honours in both piano and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire National Superieur, in the class of Gabriel Tachhino and Jean Hubeau, then earned a Master and a Doctoral Degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook under Gilbert Kalish. Other teachers are Paul Badura-Skoda, Leon Fleisher, and Peter Serkin. In demand as lecture-recitalist, she has presented masterclasses at festivals and universities in the U.S. and Europe. Millet is professor of piano and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln/Wuppertal, Germany. About her recording of Schumann Fantasie op.17, Schubert Klavierstuecke and Liszt song transcriptions, Fanfare magazine wrote: "Millet's music-making goes from the heart to the heart, and her interpretation can stand with the best of them, including Richter, Edelstein and Perahia." . Florence Millet ist Preisträgerin internationaler Wettbewerbe, erlangte die höchste Auszeichnung des Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris und promovierte mit einem Doctorate in Musical Arts and Performance an der State University of New York bei ihrem Mentor Gilbert Kalish. Sie nahm auch Unterricht bei Leon Fleisher, Jean Hubeau und Paul Badura Skoda. Ihr umfassendes und kontrastreiches Repertoire zeugt von Virtuosität und spiegelt ihre tiefsinnige, poetische Auffassung wieder. 1997 gründete sie das Lions Gate Trio, welches als Ensemble in Residence von renommierten Universitäten und Festspielen ausgezeichnet wurde : HARTT School of Music, University of Hartford, Connecticut, Yale University, Tanglewood Festival, u.a. Zwischen 1992 und 2000 spielte sie mit dem Ensemble Intercontemporain unter der Leitung von Pierre Boulez und David Robertson. Florence Millet arbeitete mit vielen der heute bedeutendsten Komponisten, Elliott Carter,George Crumb, Henri Dutilleux, Nicolas Bacri, Luciano Berio, Jörg Wiedman, Leonard Bernstein, Johannes Schöllhorn. Seit 1999 hat Florence Millet eine Professur für Klavier, Kammermusik und Didaktik an der Hochschule für Musik Köln, Standort Wuppertal. Bei internationalen Festspielen und Orchestern ist sie ein begehrter Gast und sie macht regelmässige Aufnahmen für Radiosendungen(WDR, NDR, Radio France) und auf CD(Centaur records, Triton, Accord).
